How to rank higher on Google and get in the local pack for local search
Hey everybody. Tay Musslewhite with Kimberlite Digital Marketing. Today we’re gonna talk about Review Quarry as your local business SEO superpower.
So this is any business that has customers and is local, so that’s any business. And what I want to talk about is SEO in terms of showing up better and giving Google more information for your website.
And then also in the local pack, which is when searches occur for a specific term and they say, Hey, here are the businesses that we believe are the best choices for you. That is what Google does. They’re parsing information, they’re answering your question, and they’re, in this case, they’re answering it with businesses.
So let’s jump in. Our product is called ReviewQuarry.com This example is a longtime client. This is JERS Automotive. It’s jersauto.com. They’re in Glenview, Illinois. And this is the quick, just give you a quick snapshot of what’s going on. The first thing to know is we’ve added a tremendous amount of reviews to this business since we first started with them. This NPS or net Promoter score, this isn’t like when we’re in school, even though this is in 94 and it’s excellent. Really anything in the good range. So, you know, 50 or above basically is good, but where we are for this business is excellent.
We’ve added tons of Google reviews, Yelp and Facebook recommendations, and then first party reviews. This is what I really want to talk about today, is how these first party reviews that is feedback between the business and the customer creates review snippets, which we’ll take a look at.
And then what also happens is that that then leads to more Google reviews, which leads to showing up better in search. So let’s take a look. So this is the overall right here is just more of the same. This is for when we really implemented this program. You can see back in 2018, so we’ve had five years of this. We’ve added all but two of the reviews in that timeframe. And we’ve added tons of Google, tons of Facebook, things like that. But this is where it shows up on the client website. This is, this is, again, this is jersauto.com. This is on the homepage.
So what we’re doing is we’re giving Google and customers a lot of great information right out of the gate. In this case, we’re showing 4.9 out of five stars out of 562 first party reviews. We can click on that, and then we also have a, we can click on that to go to the review page, and then we can click on this to go to the review page. I’m gonna pretend, and we’re gonna go right there to the review page. Again, we’re here looking at these, and this is all first party feedback. You can see that These don’t show Google on them or Facebook. That one does, but these do not. So that’s how we get the difference between these 562 first party reviews, and then our, you know, a hundred in this case hundred and 15 Google reviews.
So that’s what happens on the review page. Now this is what I really wanted to talk about. So we take these reviews, and this is where it becomes an SEO superpower for your business, is this is Google’s rich results snippets test, and this is search.google test. And I’m testing rich results. I plugged in that page. We were just on this page and what we found is that it is generating snippets for us. So we can see this review from 1/31/23. So just a day ago from Gina d and talking about you know, the service that he provided, this is that first review right there from yesterday.
This is the key to SEO superpower. This is showing up as a review snippet, rich review snippet in Google. This is extremely powerful. We’ve got, I’ll show you a couple. First off, we aggregate the rating, and this is telling Google, this is a phenomenally high rated business which is going to show up. It’s gonna help them know that this is a good business to display in results. The other thing that happens is as these SEO superpowers go on and on, we saw a tremendous improvement in search for this business in this is their website.
So this is Google Analytics, and you can see starting back there we, this shows starting from 2017, going to 2020, and then 2020 to 2023. So what I did is when we got to a certain threshold in Google reviews, we really saw search results take off. And you can see that happen here in February. So three years ago, in February of 2020, this is when the cumulative effects of all those reviews started to really work for us. We are seeing changes of 1261% on these particular days compared to the previous period. You know, something lighter here, but still 500 12, 1120 125% improvement. So this is traffic to the website.
The next thing that I wanted to show you, so if that weren’t enough to see that this is an SEO superpower, let’s take a look at what happened. So that was our website showed how that is dramatically impacted. Now let’s take a look at the local pack. So this is when you’re in Google and I, in this case, I search for a Glenview mechanic. This is there’s an ad here, right? So just in full disclosure, this is my whole search. And then we run ads in Glenview also. But these are organic rankings. So the local packs, the top three of what Google thinks is right, you can see a couple things here.
I want to point out. Number one, J.E.R.S. has more reviews than either of the other businesses in the local pack. This is the holy grail. This is the best real estate on the internet for a local business is to be in the local pack. And not only that, but to be number one in the local pack. This is great. Now what I also want you to see is that I search for mechanic and Google answered mechanic with a Glenview address based on Google reviews. So the more that you can find or get for your business, the more opportunities Google will have to answer customers questions with your business.
Let’s take a look at another one. Glenview Car Repair. Same thing, full disclosure. This is no ad showing here, but that is an ad that we do run. Again, top, excuse me, top in the local pack. Now this is car repair. Look at that most honest car repair on the North Shore quality work. So they’re using things in reviews about our business to determine which business should show up in search. This again, this is the holy grail of real estate in local businesses.
Next up, let’s take a look at this one. Glenview Car Repair, where that was, whoops, this is Glenview Car Repair. Again, I wanted to show you a couple things. So from review Corey, we took this customer activity and we were able to use it to create a post. This isn’t the exact one, but I clicked on social post and I’m gonna switch screens. So we can see this social post, the one that we were just looking at that generated these rich snippets from Gina. I took that review and I used reviewquarry.com to create a post. So you’ll notice I used in my posts, just like reviews.
Google reads these and they answer questions with these. I used this update to talk about our business name, Glenview Mechanic and Oil Change. So this is a great example of SEO superpowers. So we’re not only generating more Google reviews, but we’re also feeding Google more information.
Another way that this shows up is you can also see all of these reviews here. So couple things to take a look at. Here is our overview and make sure that everything is updated here, our products, and then all of our reviews. So we can start to see some things that Google has parsed about our business in the reviews when we look here. Prices, professional, mechanic, family. And then we can look at newest, we can look at highest, we can look at lowest.
If this weren’t proof enough, here’s a great article from Search Engine Journal talking about how Google appear to reward businesses with higher volumes of positive reviews by placing them in the map pack. It appears in search results over 30% of the time, and most worthy of the top billing along with their start rating customer reviews and business details. And then the number one position had on average had more positive reviews than those in positions two and three. We’ve seen that happen in this particular example.
