Maximize the effectiveness of your YouTube videos with these simple steps
00:01 Hey, it’s Tay Musslewhite here. I wanted to do a daily update, talk about a really interesting article that has come out recently. 00:09 It’s dated December 30th, 2022 by Phil Roik of the local visibility system. This is a longtime s e o professional. I really believe that you can trust what he’s talking about in this article, but this article is specifically about YouTube videos, and the title is using YouTube to pull more freight for your local seo. 00:31 So, let’s take a look. What he’s done is you know, really acknowledged that, hey, YouTube is great. He’s, there’s fuzzy results in his words. 00:43 You know how much this will help your local seo. But then at the end in the comments, there’s actually a great example of someone using YouTube to drive business for their client. 00:54 So, a huge, huge tip for anyone out there who’s looking to drive business to your business. So let’s take a look. 01:04 You know, he does say rankings are murky. Often you can’t tell how much one action or ranking factor helps you, but you usually see a big difference when you hit the organization from many angles. 01:16 YouTube is one of those. I personally believe that Google is putting a heck of a lot of emphasis on video right now to combat things like TikTok and Instagram. 01:29 But specifically TikTok. And don’t forget, YouTube is the second biggest search engine in the world behind only Google. Let’s go in. 01:40 So, hey, how does a strong video standard operator rating procedure help your local seo? He lays out some great examples here. 01:48 You can rank for local you know, for local search terms, specific area. It helps you create more pages on your site which gets you into that local pack and the three pack interlink in existing pages on your site, perhaps to help with the ranking. 02:11 If the video’s really good, you can get some back links. You’ll be more visible in YouTube and you can bring in more customers, clients patience and give you more ideas on content and also give you reviews. 02:28 He does mention this post from Chris Silversmith. This is from 2013. But highly specific. It is a little bit dated. 02:41 It mentions, you know, your Google Plus page things like that. But don’t worry about that. Just go with the current version. 02:49 But some really good things to do. Tag your videos you know, and mentioned to Google places Google Plus embed your video, promote your video. 02:58 So this is A, a great resource. Let’s keep going here. So at the bottom there is a 38 point checklist that I will open up in a moment. 03:11 It’s an Excel file that you can download and just gives you that standard operating procedure to make it happen and make it easy. 03:20 So in general, is the topic specialized? You know, you, you want to be specialized on YouTube to get those search rankings cuz there’s so much out there and so much being created. 03:31 Do you have the video in another language? If so, use it. Did you chop out unnecessary footage to make the video as short as possible? 03:40 If it’s super long, did you chop that video into shorter videos? The title, does the title of your video include a question or implied question that it would be consumer or customer client patient might type into Google. 03:57 So some interesting examples here. How to remove rust stains from carpet. A how to or why, or, you know, why does a carpet take so long to dry after cleaning? 04:06 Things like that. Common questions, get ’em in your titles. Related question, phrase or synt synonym with those a hundred characters. 04:17 Is this location based? So for instance, this is stump grinding company, you know, in the Atlanta area Dallas, Georgia, emergency tree removal of Giant Oak east Cobb, Georgia emergency tree removal. 04:35 If this is someone else, make sure you mention the news channel or organization that shot the video, if applicable. That’ll get you kinda connected to the source. 04:47 Why do these matter? This is worth diving into the title of the video is so important for rankings description, does the description include a couple of paragraphs or transcript, A naked link? 05:02 That means, you know, like just to digital kimber light.com. Naked link to your homepage. Brief description of your service area or mention of your location, name, address and phone number blob, clear call to action, link to related videos that someone might also wanna watch. 05:21 Link to that version in a different language and some hashtags. This is a great example of this. There’s other videos or excuse me, summary in links called action hashtag phone number or his calendar shoehorn is what he says. 05:44 Shoehorn these things into the description. And there are a few limitations. So really you want that description to reflect the subject matter of the video and maybe add some detail. 05:58 Other fields, tags in the tags field, you know, they’re there in the backend of Google. When you’re separate, setting up your video, use it. 06:09 Rename the raw video file. You have to do this before you upload it, but have you reamed it? Did you spec specify the language? 06:16 Did you specify the language of the subtitles? The location of filming the recording date? It’s safe to assume that every YouTube setting is there for a reason. 06:28 If it does in factor into Google’s rankings outright, then it helps Google Categori categorize your video or show it to specific people. 06:39 Now use those videos. So you’ve created it. This is like what I talk about with make your business work for you. 06:44 These are things that you’re already doing. Now let’s learn how we can do it better. So you’ve made this video now for your website. 06:52 Have you invented embedded every video in at least one page or blog post? Have you embedded the most relevant, most urgent or most popular videos on critical pages of your site? 07:05 Embedded videos on city pages linked to your YouTube channel in noticeable, noticeable spots. Created a video gallery, a page for each topic you’ve got a video on and put low video, low view videos higher up on the pages. 07:21 Here’s a really good example. This is down at the end of the article. He has some really good examples, but this is some, he fully on, full on. 07:34 This person has videos of their shorelines, so it’s right there. So some great things on why it matters and getting views. 07:52 These are all interrelated. So getting views from your website gets you views on YouTube. Getting views on YouTube gets you views on your website. 08:00 So make it happen. This is right here. And then he says, simple, go heavy on the YouTube in embeds. Embed your videos early and often. 08:14 So troubleshooting a couple things to take a look at. So have you, if you’re not getting much traction, you know, go in and do some exploring. 08:22 Have you watched it on different devices? Does it look funny? Have you changed a, your thumbnail or evaluated the current one? 08:31 Added a call to action. Gone into search console and seen that the page is showing up as indexed. Check others you know, competitors videos on the topic and see if there’s anything obvious that you can do. 08:50 Tried linking to the video where appropriate given In a couple months. You know, that’s just seo. Uploaded the raw video file to your Google Business profile. 09:04 That will give you a quick idea of, you know, people when they’re coming to your G B P, are they clicking on that video and just some of his thoughts on why it matters. 09:17 But here are some great examples. I encourage you to go in and take a look at these. They are really good. 09:27 But these aren’t like viral videos that just went crazy. These are some things that are really geared towards what this business does and where it does it. 09:38 So carpet cleaning, a detail shop, patent lawyer, facial surgery, IAM removal, shoreline restoration, gutter guard installation, bankruptcy tutoring, tree removal, and auto repair. 09:53 So that’s just a great quick guide for what you need to be doing on YouTube. I’ll sh I’ll link to the checklist in a moment as soon as we take a look at this comment from Mark Bossert. 10:11 This is a guy who’s been doing 11 years ago regularly creating content. So he is going in and he’s interviewing clients weekly. 10:25 And he has found that this has done a lot of great things from ’em. So if they do a video about specific range over repair, the following two to four weeks more Range Rover shows up. 10:41 So it’s really, really interesting. He’s calling himself sharp, which I would agree. And he tells you that it takes a little bit of time, but go from there. 10:55 And here’s another tip. I’ll let you take a closer look at those as well as the examples. Once you watch this video, but I will put these links to that specific article that he referenced there, a couple of other links that he mentioned in the article. 11:20 And then I will also be downloading this and putting it on other sites. So thanks a lot. Please have a great day and to your success. 11:31 Have a great one.
