Clicking the wrong button could cost 24% more.

A Restaurant’s Google Business Profile has options that can cost you money.
What we’re taking a look at today is how to save money for yourself or help your favorite restaurant make more money, and this is all based on their Google Business profile. If you’re a restaurant owner, you need to take a look at your Google Business profile very carefully and make sure that it’s showing what you want it to show. And then if you’re a consumer, it would really help out your business that you’re patronizing, if you really pay attention to what you click on when searching for something. The origin of this is I was having people over to my house recently. And for dessert, I wanted to serve a chocolate cake from Portillo’s, which by the way is fantastic, if you haven’t tried it, try it.
Clicking the wrong button – for a third party site instead of the restaurant site would cost almost 24% more
But this is what happened. Let’s take a look at the search and we will see what goes on. So what I did is I searched for “Portillo’s near me”. What comes up obviously is that Google Business profile for the restaurant. This is one that’s near me, and we can see about it here, but let’s click on order pickup. Now, if I follow what Google is telling me to do and click on order pickup, then I go down and let’s find that chocolate cake. Oh, my mouth is watering already. Let’s add it to the order. Notice that total, it’s $31.74. Let’s see what happens when we total it up and see our pricing with tax. $34.60, that’s our total, plus tax. That’s no tip.
Let’s bet on this and let’s see what happens when I click on order pickup and I use the @Portillo’s page. Let’s pick up and let’s find that restaurant near me. Let’s continue my order and let’s go search. Or actually, I’ve already done it here. Let’s search for our desserts and let’s go find that chocolate cake. So that chocolate cake in this case is $24.99. Now I’ve already added it to the cart. Let’s see what it shows us. So that total to skip the other thing that was surfaced for me and go straight to the Portillo’s website is $27.24.
So now, let’s go take a look at a percentage calculator, and let’s look at what we’ve got. So, whoops, percent difference calculator. Let’s take a look at this. So $34.60 and then $27.24. When we calculate that, that is a difference of 23.8%. So that’s either costing you just for clicking a different button, or in my opinion, the wrong button, it’s 23.8% difference. So it’s either costing you that much or it’s costing the restaurant that much. And think about it from the restaurant’s perspective. If you’re willing to pay $34.60 instead of $27.24, that’s a huge difference. I encourage you to make sure that you are paying attention to what you’re clicking on. Save yourself that 24% or leave a tip for the restaurant and let their owners and workers realize that gain.
Again, this is Tay Musslewhite, Digital Kimberlite. We are here to make your business work for you. Please pay attention to your Google Business profile if you are any type of business, but this is a really interesting one if you’re a restaurant. All right. Thanks a lot. Have a great day.
